Sit a spell with: TITO RIKARDO

Back to early this year as I heard about THEUPPERMOST for the first time, I really had no idea what kind of this duo be as a person. Just few informations from some fellow photographers about them, but I was not sure enough they were just as incredible as their name. Are they a pleasant guy? or witty? Bored, maybe? Staid? Well… One named Sigit, and the other one, Tito. I searched more through Facebook, and did some short chats with both of them, then we were planned for our first meet-up. Almost till that day, I did not realize how lucky I was for having a chance to meet them personally. I meant, who am I? And who are they? Skip my sillyness, after the first meet up, all I can say is having them as friends (and even a closer friend now) is like an unending bliss. I could never ask for a better brothers or partners like them. They are not only a hardworker and a great professional in this industry, but also the role model of inspiration and a true friend. When they’re around you, you’ll feel that you are the happiest person on earth! Such an incredible feeling :)
Here’s a little chit-chat with Tito, as much as I could get some latent secrets to be unveiled. Sure you going to love it. And, just a little advise from me, don’t judge the book by its movie. Haha, you’re definitely need to meet these guys personally once in your life, and you will understand why they named themselves: THEUPPERMOST.

– Tell us a little bit about yourself and how long have u been a photographer?
I am a full-time daddy of a handsome boy (Aaron), and a proud husband of the most beautiful wife u could ever have heehee.. 2011 is my 4th year as a wedding photographer.

– What do you feel is the most challenging thing about photographing weddings?
To capture moments in beauty.

– Have you ever had anything go wrong at a wedding and if so, how did you handle it?
Some unexpected things could be happen. I’m not sure if I remember any, but well so far it went good.

– Can you share some images with us from a single wedding?
Sure!! Here you go.

Do you focus on prewedding or wedding photography?
I do both. Both have different approaches. For pre-wedding I take control to set for better image. For wedding the less control the better story to tell.

– If you could shoot a wedding with another photographer who would it be and why?
Apertura. They are one of my biggest influence in wedding photography even though we do a bit different style. They are really consistent with their art work and I believe we do have the same philosophy about wedding photography. A few days ago,  I had the opportunity to shot an event for Help-Portrait Indonesia along with Erwin Darmali from Apertura. It felt awesome, indeed.

-What’s the wildest thing you’ve done to gain better access for a shot?
Gladys, do you ask me to tell you my secret weapon? Hahhaahahaha

– How important is Photoshop in your final images?
I think it’s just 20%.

– A wedding photographer who inspires you?
Duo Apertura, Ben Chrisman, Oly Ruiz, Duo Tinydots, Kelvin Koh, Huy Nguyen, a good friend of mine Sigit Prasetio, and many more.. it takes two hours to write it down hauhauhuaa

– Do you advertise? If so where?
On our first year yes, for some magz. But not know.. word from mouth to mouth is the best ^^ , facebook helps also to spread the words  and ofcourse website+blog.

-How important is an awesome website for your business?
Scale 1 to 10,its 10.. it’s our home. Everyone need a great place to put their best work, right?

– If you could be invisible for one day with your camera…
Hauhuauha, not sure yet.. well, only God knows ^^

– What or who is the greatest love of your life?
Whooaa.. great question, it might sounds a  bit cliche.. but for me My Jesus is my greatest love. The love that made who I am today, the love that made me met my wife, the love that made me have a super boy, the love that made me having a job that I love so much. Sorry I’m a radical christian hehehhe..
I’m just an ordinary man with a great God, and his name is Jesus !

– What do you think of the wedding photography industry at the moment and where do you see it in 5 years from now?
Now?? Well nowadays, there are too many business man in this industry instead of photographers, 5 years from now, I hope there will be a mature client based who can separate those two in Indonesia.

– What’s the most important quality a photographer needs to have?
If I may say, it’s consistency.

– What about approaching in wedding day?
If you are talk more than you take pictures, it will make you a director, not a wedding photographer.
But I do talk with families of course, we need that to make them feel comfortable when we are around. It will helps you to get better images.

– if you had one wish…
Uhm…I wish next year I will have a daughter

– Preparation before shoot wedding?
Simple. Breakfast at McDonalds + Starbucks on break session huahuhauha

– Tips for new wedding couple?
Memories = Priceless. Do not be afraid to spend a little bit much for your once in a lifetime moment if the value is timeless.

– Oh one more, if someone said ‘how can I be the next THEUPPERMOST?’ What would you say?
Just be your self and dream big.

’till next time and happy Holidays everyone!

xoxo, Gladys
